How to fix the leaky faucet in the bathtub
"Procrastination does not help when it comes to leaky plumbing. Call in reinforcement!"
How I did it: I noticed a little dribble in the bathtub faucet a few months ago, but thought nothing of it. In the ensuing months, the dribble became a steady stream of leaking water. UGH.
I really don't like to deal with this sort of thing, so instead of nipping it in the bud, I let it slide for too long. Last month's water bill was a wake-up call -- almost double what it normally is! EEK!
I initially had someone look at it over a month ago, but he thought I'd need to replace the entire unit. I decided that I should get a second opinion, so I called a local plumbing outfit and they sent out a plumber. Not only did he show up when he said he would, he also figured out the problem (valves, apparently), had the parts in stock, returned the next day (again when he said he would), and fixed it without issue. YES!
Lessons & tips: Don't put it off! I could have taken care of this several months ago with one simple phone call, but instead was overwhelmed by the pain of dealing with all the minutiae. Just take a deep breath and call.
Resources: I found them through Yelp.
