How to sponsor a child

How I did it: I researched different sponsorship programs and decided to go with World Vision. Then I searched their site for a child that I could feel a connection with. We searched our wedding date and found a little girl born exactly 3 years before we got married. It was like fate and we couldn't turn away from her. Her name is Livia and she is a 6 year old Brazilian girl. At first, I wondered if Brazil was a place in enough need - I wanted to put my money where it is most needed. But my husband, who has traveled there, said that although there are some privileged people in Brazil, the poverty in other areas was overwhelming.
I feel that we made a great decision and I can't wait to get our first letter from our little Livia!
