How I did it: I was wasting so much food because it was rotting before I could use it. I planned food purchases by checking the calendar first. There were nights in our week that we just weren't home. I started bulk cooking on Monday and preparing large amounts of brown rice, pasta salad, cooking ground beef and chicken tenders, and cut up veggies. My children could take what they wanted and the junk food bill has almost completely disappeared. I accepted "how we live" and stopped fighting against it. I have easily dropped our food bill by a few hundred dollars a month.
Lessons & tips: Acceptance of the way we live our lives seems to be the first step in accomplishing this goal.
