meilian the lovers the dreamers and me
Already there -
I currently teach English in Seoul (on my second contract at the moment), so feel free to contact me if you want any tips, advice, etc.
I support your taking a TEFL course beforehand; it’ll really help you find and land the job that you want (more flexibility).
Good luck!

Thank you!
Ah that is amazing! I’m planning on doing a CELTA in Budapest first, but not until September. When do most contracts start? Or can you pick them up any time? I’m hoping to get a year contract with a public or private school.
Have you enjoyed it?

Since
the Korean school year starts in March, most contracts begin then, but I work at a university institute which runs classes year-round, and my contracts begins in late August. So I would say there’s two basic times to start: primarily March, or September, though I know others wh have started at other times.
Public school would probably be good (as opposed to at a hagwon).
The answer to that question would take a long time…and I don’t have enough right now! Suffice to say, there are parts I’ve enjoyed, and parts that have been difficult, but some of that may be attributed to my particular situation. I think it’s good to really know how much support you need before going – you’ll find jobs are pretty hands-off and don’t give their teachers much direction/guidance (but again it depends). Anyway that’s it in a nutshell.

Thank you so much for your help and advice! I hope you continue to have a good time there and hopefully one day I’ll be there too!
