How to make a will
"I worked with an attorney to make sure my assets will be used to care for loved ones should something unexpected happen to me."
How I did it: I brainstormed how I wanted my estate to be distributed under various scenarios (if this person is still living, if that one is...) and met with a lawyer to set the details in legalese.
Lessons & tips: If you'll be leaving even a small estate which could help your loved ones/friends/church/community/etc., consider using a lawyer. It's not cheap, but an attorney who works with the ins-and-outs of your state's estate-handling apparatus can include protections you may not know you need, ask questions you hadn't considered, and suggest other documents you may want to create as well, such as Powers of Attorney and Living Wills.
