How to sleep in a hammock
How I did it: You can make your own hammock with:
- 3 yards of denim or canvas ($3/yd @ Walmart)
- a sewing machine
- good rope
Be sure to stitch it very tight. I use thick decorative stitching. I
have never had one of my hammocks give out, even with 5 people piled in one. You still have to be very careful when you first hang it up, however. Good luck!
Lessons & tips: Fabric hammocks are the most comfortable for sleeping.
If you lay diagonally, you lay practically horizontal.
The further the posts you hang your hammock on, the more comfortable it will be.
You are suspended in air, with no insulation on your backside. Remember to use bedding both below you and on top of you if it is anything less than scorching hot outside.
