How to make yogurt
"Could not have been easier. "
How I did it: Used the recipe in Canning for a New Generation. I halved the recipe and used a big thermos-type cooler and two smallish jars. Used a few tablespoons of Chobani for starter (I used the rest to make powerbars from the Sunshine Cafe cookbook). I strained one (I should find something to do with the leftover whey) and left one unstrained. Both were absolutely delicious and the best plain yogurt I've ever had. Threw a teaspoon of jam and some wheat germ in and had a delicious, healthy breakfast.
I will make it again for sure!
Lessons & tips: Don't be afraid. Plunge right in. It's nice to have a candy thermometer handy, but it's really not difficult.
Resources: Canning for a New Generation. A nice book with other good tips and recipes.
