How to recover from co-dependency
How I did it: First is to decide. Next (and this is the hardest) is to stick to the decision. I hesitated in marking this as done (although I have broken up with the co-dependent relationship October last year) because I was thinking that I might still be having some dependency issues with my ex until now. But after I completely cut the communication lines and made a decision to steer clear of verbally abusive treatment just so I can have somebody by my side, I believe that I became a free woman. =)
Lessons & tips: Keep a journal and really record every instance of verbal abuse that you got from the person. This will make moving on easier. Whenever I feel like I am about to go soft in favor of having someone by my side, I just look at my diary and I tell myself that it was worth the hard adjustments.
Resources: I was not able to save the websites I visited but I just googled verbal abuse and co-dependency at the time that I was seriously suffering from it. Also, I blogged about it and used all the painful experiences to refine my writing skill. It was a wealthy source of creative passionate writing.
