How to help someone everyday by Helen Mary Labao

"This goal is very much worth it."

How I did it: It was not really a planned thing. I interviewed a father for a magazine article last week and I realized that I already accomplished this goal. He said something like: "Do not count. Give yourself unconditionally." It's a life long goal. Just because I achieved it now does not mean I will be able to sustain it. There will always be selfish moments but I guess I will just have to try and try again.

I just stopped thinking of myself for the most part and I just opened myself up to the possibilities of helping others. And there is always a person who needs help. ALWAYS. It's often me who does not have the time to extend myself. So I guess it just boils down to extending myself, and giving that smile and that help especially when I do not feel like doing it. The sacrifice is just much greater when I try to go against my feelings. Self-denial is essential so that there will be room for other people.     

Lessons & tips: Interact with people. Open yourself a little. Opportunities to help will never run out when you do so.
