How I did it: I was living in my room which looked messed up and cramped and I didn't like this place anymore. I had difficulties finding stuff and generally I noticed it affected my emotions. So I had a New Year resolution - I will do something with it - give away everything I do not need and sell things and throw away the rest. I wanted to leave only the things I need, I use, I like. The rest is not necessary and it frightened me how much of it I actually collected not only last year but through the last decade.
Lessons & tips: I think you can handle it many ways: you can spend the whole day throwing away things or you can do it like me: divide it into small parts. I divided my room into areas and I cleared them one by one, not everyday, but when I wanted and I had my time. I threw away old books, documents and papers, pens, bags, clothes, some souvenirs I didn't like, pictures, cosmetics, tools.
- I believe that when you throw away something you create a space, and the Universe refills this space with something new. It always works with me. This is one of my ways to receive something new.
- I told myself that I am not going to anchor myself anymore with the past - any many of things I had triggered memoirs, not always good, so I symbolically threw away my bad memories by throwing things which reminded me about them.
