How to try new restaurants
How I did it: I kept a running list of all the restaurants I saw or heard about that sounded good. Whenever it came time to go out and we were tempted to hit up the same old haunts, we'd consult the list. Obviously a goal like this can never truly be considered "complete" but at this point I feel like I've adopted this as a lifestyle and something I feel pretty confident that I'll keep up with.
Lessons & tips: This is a worthy goal because it's an opportunity to break old habits and get out of your comfort zone. Like most things, it's so easy and tempting to stick to what you know and miss out on all sorts of experiences because of that. Eating at new places is such a simple way to switch things up a bit.
Resources: A friend of mine at work started a monthly dinner club. She throws out some suggestions and we all vote and get together. It's probably been the easiest way to try new places that I might not ordinarily think about going to. Plus since it's monthly, the group of people who go tend to vary a bit depending on who can make it and who can't, so it's an opportunity to socialize with different people, too!
