How to write my biography
How I did it: I'd already written one before but it was weak so I paid a friend $15 who works in PR to revise it for me - the key was to not make too long:
With a budget of just $500, Ian Camacho produced and marketed “BRUNCH OF THE LIVING DEAD”, an action/comedy/horror short. It not only became a cult film, but also played a key role in launching fellow student Jake Silbermann’s acting career (CBS “AS THE WORLD TURNS”).
Given this early success, it was no surprise when multiple hit TV shows hired him as a Production Assistant, including Family Guy, Ghost Whisperer, Samantha Who and Beauty and the Geek. However, Ian knew he also wanted to learn the industry’s business side, and as such assisted the Director of Development at Blowtorch Entertainment and then the Vice-President of Don Buchwald & Associates Talent Agency.
Mr. Camacho is currently finishing post-production on the short “THE PONY MAN”, scheduled to be released later this year; this is the final work of the late actress and director Chane’t Johnson. He is also raising funds for both a short thriller “SWITCH” starring Jeremy Jordan and feature documentary “A BUNDLE OF STICKS.”
Ian graduated the Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University. In his free time, he balances volunteering, performing stand-up comedy and writing a finance book for people looking to break into Hollywood on a limited budget.
Lessons & tips: Write it in active and present tense - makes it dynamic
Short and sweet is best
If you can't do it, find someone who can for a small fee (elance.com is a good start if you don't know anyone in PR), it will be worth it if it brings business your way!
