How I did it: I finally just bought a plane ticket and went :) I didn't have much time, but it was worth the trip anyway since I'd been dreaming of going there since I was a teenager. I still can't believe it took me all this time to see New York, especially since I'd been to the US five times before that!
Now my next plan is to get to spend several weeks there and just explore...

Lessons & tips: I was there for 2 days, then a week later, half a day. I made up with myself from the beginning to not stress and try to make it to see everything, and simply enjoy every moment on its own. I did manage, and it was awesome. If I were to do it again, I'd drop the tourist bus tour (took the night one, and didn't get to see much), and the Empire State Building (totally not worth wasting 2 hours + in a line when on such a tight schedule).
