How I did it: Bought some wood to match the trim. Cut it at 45 degree angles and attempted to put them together to fix what had rotted out. Now I just need to fill it with some wood filler (when it is not going to storm anytime soon) then paint it to match the rest of the trim, but that is for another day since I am going to paint the trim a different color.
