How to share quotes
"Using a PDA makes a WORLD of difference!"
How I did it: I got my first Personal Digital Assistant (a Kyocera 6035) as an award for work around 1998. Through the years I would enter quotes that I liked. Over the last 13 or so years I managed to figure out quite a few things about myself based on the subjects I like to collect.
- I really like conundrums. Especially ones that are recursive (refer to themselves)
- "I hate quotations."- Ralph Waldo Emerson
- "I'd like to help you out....Which way did you come in?
Lessons & tips:
- Tag you entries with keywords and synonyms for easy finding
- Cross-tag your quotes with related topics and/or authors
- Keep them handy in both your PDA and desktop application for fast pasting at appropriate times
- It is great ammo for any online discussions. I have shut down lots of them with a well placed quote between the ribs."A true friend stabs you in the front."~Oscar Wilde)
- Credit the person you heard it from. Years later you will be able to look up their name and remember with fondness the things that they taught you.
- If quoting a friend, be sure to date stamp it. It really shows you care when you quote them back years later.
