How I did it: I was appointed as a bridesmaid by my housemate who I lived with for a year after graduation. I was honored and even though I'm not really a wedding person I keep my mind open to the experience.

My housemate was a very efficient bride and she told me earlier that I didn't have to do much except on the wedding day itself. And since both of us were busy I helped her shop for my bridesmaid dress by sending pictures back and forth every time we go shopping on our own.

I went to her hometown  the night before her wedding, and drove her to get her makeup done the next morning. The wedding passed by very quickly and I found I actually enjoyed the process

Lessons & tips: Be open minded and remember as a bridesmaid we are there to help the bride feel in control on her big day. Offer help whenever we can and make ourselves at home with the bride's family.
