I really need to focus on this goal, too. It sucks when your Husband is a Deep Sea Diver and then people hear you can’t even swim! Haha.
How I did it: You have to put your mind to it.
Buy the swimming kit, goggles, etc. It helps to "see" yourself as a swimmer.
Try and find a friend who is already a swimmer and go swimming with them.
Regularize the times that you do it. I did it once every week on a Tuesday nite.
If you are starting from scratch, donot just go to "swim". It better to have a specific aim you want to achieve, such as :How to kick you legs, how to move your arms, how to regulate your breathing etc.
It frustrating when you cannot "swim" as quickly as you want, but it takes time.
Think of swimming as learning to walk, it takes time but you'll get there in the end.
