"One of those amazing things you hear about, but you actually have to do for yourself!"
How I did it: Well, I was invited to the Gold Coast, in Queensland Australia about a week from the date of the flight, and I thought "why not?!" and just went with it!
I booked it online with Jetstar! It was very easy, the website is set out to explain everything to you in detail. It was very very easy; but in saying this, I had my friend sitting next to me to tell me if I had done anything wrong anyway...My flight was at 5pm & unsure about the traffic, we left at about 2:30pm and we had heaps of time before the flight. We checked in, ate some food and my friend told me to buy some chewing gum (because I had a cold) and it was because of the pressure when flying..
The detector machines & check ins were perfect - I almost went off! Forgot about my phone and stuff, so..
Then, I was sitting in my window seat (I really really suggest taking the window seat when you're flying!! Really worth it!!!) and in 1.5 hours, I was already there! The flight attendants are all very nice and explain everything you need to know - this is their job and they do it all the time, so they know best.
Lessons & tips:
- Book online - seems easier; but there was 'online booking fees' so I guess if you are trying to save as much as possible, then don't do that!!
- Don't be scared or nervous, because everything will go right!
- Get a window seat - you really see the view the best and the view is really AMAZING!!! Even at night it is lovely, but it's even better in daylight!!
- Depending on your flight; don't bother buying food or drinks, because I don't think it is worth it; I never did when I went on the flight, so I'm not too sure how that all works though.
- Follow instructions of all the security personnel and you'll be fine!
- Have fun & enjoy!
Resources:
- Friends/family advice - this provides a personal experience!
- Internet - I personally used http://www.jetstar.com/au/en/home
- Shuttle service - from the airport car parking to the actual airport - otherwise I don't suggest a Taxi since that would be expensive.
