"Easier than I expected"
How I did it: I had wanted to stop drinking soda for a long time, but would fail repeatedly whenever I tried. I finally got to the point where I had run out of money to spend on frivolous things, so I really had no choice but to stop buying sodas. The real accomplishment has been avoiding soda for the past 6 months although I've had money to spend!
Lessons & tips: - Take a good look at how much you're actually spending on soda. What could you be using that money on that would bring you more long-term enjoyment and happiness?
- Consider the environmental costs of producing and shipping soda
- Consider the toll soda has on your health. Both sugared soda and diet soda are linked to diabetes. Sugared soda causes erosion of tooth enamel and cavities, especially near the gum line. Diet soda can actually sabotage your weight loss goals, because your body mistakes the soda for food but isn't getting any substance, and soda stimulates cravings for sweets.
- Do your own research, find your own reasons for finally quitting this habit! Everyone will have their own unique reasons for drinking soda, and will need their own unique reasons for quitting as well.
