How to ride on a motorcycle by indigoliquidd

"I never thought I'd love the wind whipping past me!"

How I did it: Well, I added it to my list and kind of talked about it with Dreamer. I don't think I ever officially asked Batt if he'd take me out for a ride, but the word got back to him.

It took a long time for the weather to shape up for a few good days in a row. Batt and Dreamer went out yesterday, and then Batt took me out today. It's Memorial Day in the States, so a holiday for me. Dreamer has rehearsal today, so I didn't steal any of her bike time. ;)

Other than that, hopped on the back of the bike and went! First we went on a short spin through town, then went for a longer ride. I was a little tense, especially at first, but I really got into the grove. I didn't panic, and it wasn't as scary as I thought it was going to be. Not my strapped in and surrounded by a car freaked me out a little bit at first. I got used to it pretty quick.

Accelerating is actually kind of fun--Batt was kind enough to give me warnings at first to hold on tighter. The turns might've been the hardest part for me to relax during. Dreamer told me to lean with him and I thought "oh, no big deal" but my instinct is certainly to lean away from the turn. I had to keep reminding myself to lean with him (which did get easier as we went)

Lessons & tips: Go out with someone who is experienced and someone you can trust. I think that's what made it so easy for me. I knew that Batt has been riding for years and wouldn't do anything reckless. 

Wear the right gear!!
