How I did it: Well, from the beginning it wasn't difficult. I started with a notebook and a pen in front of me to simply brainstorm different art styles and how each would look when formed into a mermaid. I finally decided the romanticism era of art would be best, because I really wanted her to look real. And it only took a few sketches to get her the way I liked once i knew how i was doing her. when i finished, I added 1940's fashion type accessories to make her dramatic and fun!

Lessons & tips: Well, if you're not exactly an artist, just remember that everything starts out as a basic shape, and that as long as you like it, it doesn't friggin matter what anyone else thinks. It's art, run with it!

Resources: any sketch pad will work, and colored pencils with soft led, so that you can blend the colors as you please.
