How to get life insurance
How I did it: I work for a financial firm so a coworker who is licensed wrote my policy. But just look up any insurance company, they are honestly pretty much all the same. I would recommend going with a broker, an agent that will quote you from lots of companies, not just going with whoever has your car and home insurance. I went with 30 year term. Add up all debts, most importantly your mortgage, add about 10k for funeral cost, and college expenses if you have kids to calculate how much you need. Every situation is different so work with a professional. You get quotes, pick a company with a price you like, fill out an application, then do a ParaMed. A ParaMed is where a medical technician comes to your house of office, takes you vitals and a blood and urine sample. Once they get all the results you will be rated and approved. Make sure you keep your original policy in a safe place like a safety deposit box and let your family know you have it and where it is.
Lessons & tips: I know it's morbid but just do it. You will feel better preparing for the unknown. Dont add financial troubles to the pain of your loss on your loved ones.
