How to learn to accept myself
How I did it: Just firstly, it hasn't really taken 10 years to learn to accept myself, most of that time was spent trying to find myself. I'd say maybe 6-7 of those years, I've been learning to accept myself.
When you take a good hard look at your self, when you have the courage to just take a step back and realise you might have it all backwards is when you come to find yourself. When you just allow yourself to be, rather then trying to project what you think you should do, should be, you find you had all you wanted all along within you. Accepting yourself is no easy path but having found who I am, I can now move off into the future on an authentic note and be who I have always been beneath the mask.
Lessons & tips: Accepting who you truly are is not easy, it might take months, years or decades. The best place to start is where you are. Don't force anything, it's important you allow yourself time to reflect on what you believe, who you think you are and everything you believe in. When you know who you truly are, acceptance is more or less the only way forward.
