How I did it: Nothing like losing a lot of weight and having very little in your closet that you can still wear.  I had to go through everything I owned and determine if it still fit, if it would fit, or if it was worth being altered.  I took everything out of the closet and tried each item on.  If it fit, it went in one pile, if it didn't I determined if it was worth donating or if it should just be thrown away.  I ended up donating six bags of clothes worth almost a $1000 in donations.

Lessons & tips: If you haven't worn it in a year, get rid of it (unless it is one of those special occassion types of outfits)
