How to complete the All New 30 Day Song Challenge
"Fun, moving, educational, uplifting and emotional. Oh, did I mention fun?"
How I did it: I saw people on 43T playing the original 30 song challenge at a time when I was unable to join in (damn studies!) and was gutted I couldn't play along but thought I'd maybe catch the tail-end of it after exams.
However, when I looked at the list I just couldn't answer a whole lot of them and by that time things were pretty much wrapping up on that goal. So I thought, if I'm going to play alone I might as well play it my way and get to avoid all those difficult headings like "favourite track ever" (one?!); I sat down and wrote my own list and so the All New 30 Day Song Challenge was born.
After that I posted the list and made choices and entries accordingly. In due course I completed the list and thus the goal.
What made this extra fun was having other people join in; of course I hoped they would but I didn't expect it :-) It's been enlightening and entertaining to look at other people's choices. I've come across so much new (to me) music that I would probably never otherwise have heard so huge thanks to my musical educators.
There have also been a surprising number of personal favourites amongst other people's choices which has been a lovely, bonding (?)/sharing experience.
And of course there's been the nostalgia...I've wallowed in it and it's been GREAT!
I've thoroughly enjoyed this whole experience and would highly recommend it ;D
(Reading this back it reads more like I'm 'stamping ownership' than I intended...but I can't be bothered changing it and if I'm really honest, I'm kinda proud that I created this thing and other people enjoyed it. So sue me ;p)
Lessons & tips:
- As you make your choices be prepared to go wandering off down many a winding memory lane
- It's extra fun if others play along with you...take some time to listen to their choices...it can be eye (ear?) opening
- Don't be rigid about format; I know it says 30 days in the title but it can be just as much fun over any period of time and done in any order...just ask some of the others who've done it!
