Hooray!
Very cool, I am impressed! I seem to remember from someone I know who did this that the test is quite rigorous!
How I did it: Nine weeks ago, I was browsing some radio websites and discovered that a ham radio license was a lot easier to get than I'd thought. I decided to go for a childhood dream, and study for the Technician test.
Lessons & tips: I will never have time for things I want to do, unless I make the time. If I can't make the time now, maybe I will be able to someday. Never say never!
Resources: http://www.arrl.org The American Radio Relay League has lots of resources for beginners.

TroegPerdo is Gobsmacked, in a good way!
I did this several years ago myself… must be quite a few, come to think of it, because I’ve already had to renew once.
I worked my way up to “Advanced Extra” eventually… but I hardly ever use it per se. I listen sometimes, but rarely talk.
How about you? Do you use your ticket much?
Dara Same letters, same old me.
although I recently upgraded to the General ticket, which gives me HF privileges. I’m glad to have the radio for emergency use, of course, and for that the higher freq’s are the most useful, but my true love is DXing.
I just have to save up for the HF rig, so it will be a while yet. As for how much I will use it, that remains to be seen. So far, yes, more listening than talking, but I like knowing that I can talk if I want to!
