That’s good, solid advice- great job!
How to become an illustrator
How I did it: In march, I left my day job to pursue a career on graphic design and illustration. I did have a small business that supposedly would support me while i didn't have enough clients... but that business failed :P
I'm mostly living of illustration work by now. I'm still pretty much in the hole financially :), but things are evolving. It took a while, but mostly because I wasn't totally convinced I could do it.
Lessons & tips: Go out and about to show people your portfolio, don't just make a deviantart page and sit down waiting for jobs to come. Make friends with people on the area and show them what you do, without being pushy.Till you build a name and is known for your style, most jobs will come through indications, and often aren't exactly your style. If you're able to do them with excellence, do, even if you don't need the money, because the experience will be worth it.

Great work!
Can you show us some of your work? You have a DA?
danieli meh
my DA is a bit out of date, but here it is: http://moire.deviantart.com . My online portfolio is currently off for maintenance, but will be online really soon at http://danielimoreira.com .
(Another advice: get your own domain, or, at the very least, a carbonmade account and/or a flickr. Most people in the area frown upon a DA portfolio, they think it’s only for amateur kids drawing anime :P)

Great spirit!
I hope you succeed in building your name with your art. Could you give me some suggestions on how to do the portfolio? Is it better to include several styles of drawing or just concentrate in one in particular?
