How I did it: Since we had two weddings there was loads of planning involved, and a lot of help from my parents in England because many things we just couldn't sort out, living in Sweden as we do. Our English wedding was not deemed 'official' since you can't get married outside in England, but it was official to us, since it was on the 2nd of July, exactly four years after we first met in Stockholm. I have written about our relationship in many different goals, but I will reiterate; we first started talking online, and found each other to begin with through 43Things! Erik wanted to improve his English, I offered to help, and things went from there :)

Lessons & tips: If you can, buy everything you can afford (accepting perishables, for instance, the cake) way ahead of time. If you have it in your hands, even if it is a year before, at least you can pretty much guarantee you'll have it for your big day. I say this because I ordered my dress from America, and it didn't arrive in time for our English wedding. That was mainly due to bad planning on the dressmaker's part (it was finished back in April, needed adjusting, was sent back in April, and she didn't send it back again until a week before the wedding, fully expecting it to arrive with us), but in any case, if I had ordered it the year before, there wouldn't have been a problem.
