How to summit Mt. Rainier
"Awesome... enough said"
How I did it: Done over four very long days:
Day 1: Traveled from the White River Campground to Camp Schurman (5,000 feet of elevation gain with a full pack)
Day 2: Rest Day
Day 3: Got up at 1am, left camp at 2am, and made the summit around 10:30am. Got back to camp at 4:00pm
Day 4: Hiked out
Note: This is for the Emmons Glacier Route on the northeast side. More elevation gain, but slightly less technical than the Disappointment Cleaver Route
Lessons & tips: 1) Conditioning. It's a physically demanding climb. Hike and backpack as much as possible before doing this climb.
2) Go with a group that is comfortable with rope travel and is familiar with crevasse rescue
