How to be a mentor

How I did it: I registered to be a mentor through a program called iMentor which is based in New York City. It is an organization focused on education and college prep for under-served students in the NYC metro area. It is a great program for New Yorkers because it accommodates a busy lifestyle.. the bulk of the program is carried out via email, in combination with a once a month meeting between mentor and mentee.
Lessons & tips: There are a million different mentoring programs out there in the world... regardless of your situation there is totally a program that can fit your lifestyle and your desire to be a mentor. Just do some research and see what organizations are open to you in your area.
