How to compost by sistinas

"Pile on the food and the twigs and let 'er rot."

How I did it: I saved all the vegetable and fruit scraps from my kitchen and occasionally put a bunch of dead leaves or some cardboard in the pile. Every now and then I'd water and/or turn the pile. After about six months, it started looking and smelling like compost.

Lessons & tips: There's not much to it. Be patient. It'll rot.

I’ve been wanting to compost. Great goal, did you get any flies? I live in an apartment and I guess i’m just worried that flies will take over the place

sistinas is ready for a new year

I didn’t get any flies by my kitchen scraps, but I kept them in a closed bin. The compost pile itself is out in a corner of the yard and I’m sure bugs flew by and around it but I never noticed them congregating there.
