How to stop biting my cuticles
How I did it: I am happy I stopped, but the reason is not a happy one, so that's why I selected "neutral" for how it made me feel.
I can not recommend this as a solution, but it all started with the death of my mother. Her life-long overbearing personality apparently was at the root of my nail biting, as I stopped almost immediately after she died.
I now have strong nails, reasonable cuticles, and no desire at all to bit them. I don't even want to nip them off when they get chipped, I reach for a nail file instead.
Lessons & tips: I knew my mother stressed me, but since I'd bitten my nails most of my life, I didn't connect the two. I'm not sure what I could have done even if I had, there's no way I could have abandoned her (she was very ill, especially near the end).
If you are able to look at your life, discover what is eating at you, then you may be able to stop eating your fingers.
