How I did it: This didn't take me 100 years but it felt like it.  I did a lot of research on the internet of other women that left their husbands.  Who wants to leave broken if you don't have too?  The success stories that I could relate too were well planned out to ensure success, and minimize risk.  I didn't want to end up having to take care of this jerk until the end of time!
