How to run a Ragnar Relay
How I did it: Buddy of mine had run one before and cobbled together a team so I signed on. This course started in mountainous areas and gradually sloped downward from there, so the initial legs were full of hills; tough, but fun and challenging. Running at night was a new experience and the fog and clouds added an eerie dynamic. Third and final leg looked the easiest on paper, but was by far the toughest for me: the fatigue begins to set in as you're not really getting solid sleep in between legs and it starts to catch up to you. The humidity also began to kick up after all the rain and made it a tough run. Combined my legs totaled just under 19 miles (with a lot of hills).
Lessons & tips: Get a great team that you don't mind being sweaty and sleep deprived around for about 30 hours or so. Check your leg maps and train accordingly. I ran a lot of hills to prep and it was still tough.
