How to write a book
How I did it: I went on courses, looked things up on the internet and drew on my life's experiences. You have lots of false starts, but persevere, and once you have written the book, say in three months, or so you need to revise it. Leave enough time between readings to be objective. In the meantime, write another book.
When the initial ideas have left your head from the first draught revise it. You will see lots of mistakes. The real work is in revision and revision and revision. Your early drafts will be pants. Eventually, you will find your style or voice.
When you are satisfied, get your book professionally critiqued, relatives and friends will be frightened to offend you and will always say your work is great. Then you will need more revisions until it cannot get better. Next, pay someone to proof it. Finally, you might have a masterpiece. However, earning lots of money from writing is rare.
Writing is expensive and finding a publisher a nightmare.
