How to practice spontaneous acts of kindness
How I did it: part of my ongoing spiritual quest...read and practice uplifting information as often as you can. meditate. be empathetic. when all else fails, go toward the light, by this i mean kindness and compassion. if you look closely, you'll see the kid in all grownups. when you see and acknowledge this, you'll be better able to reach out and be kind. use the road to help you. don't go for ego, road rage. go for calm and witness driving as a metaphor for being in the flow. don't cut folks off -- you'll get there eventually...this really is a good metaphor, and since i have to drive a lot and daily, it helped me see the possibilities for kindness. finally, don't get too down on yourself if you aren't doing this 24/7. i've been trying this for years and i'm still caught up in gossip, negativity, petty jealousies. it's sometimes easier for me to practice r.a.k. on strangers than on friends - what's that about?! just keep on keeping on. the more you do it, the easier it gets.
Lessons & tips: read spiritual uplifting things. get out of your own head - don't take yourself so darn seriously. think of others!
