How I did it: I've been struggling with this off and on for a while. Since I've gotten into yoga more I decided it's time to stick with it. I was starting to feel the effects of it or at least in my mind it seems like it, so about 3 months ago I quit cold turkey. No patches, medicines, gum, or anything. I think this may not work for everyone, but for me I wanted to just cut the cord with the addiction rather than taper off slowly.
Lessons & tips: Stay away from bars or any place where you may be vulnerable to relapsing. At least initially. Believe in yourself that you have the strength. If you slip up don't beat yourself up, just try again.
