How to lower my cholesterol
How I did it: I had a doctor who told me I needed to take drugs for my cholesterol (based on #s from 3 years ago) before he had even drawn blood for the labs. Then he told me not to jog because it's bad for the joints.
Obviously, it was time to find a new doctor. I am now going to an amazing doctor who ran a huge battery of test. We first determined that I wasn't eating enought protien and iron and that I needed to give up dairy. I cried. But 5 weeks later my numbers are WAY better and I am not at risk as I was before. I am still not getting enough protien and iron so now I'm going off all white stuff, including wheat flour.
Even if I fail miserably at giving up flour, my health has improved drastically. Thank you Dr. Rowden for caring about my health and helping me figure out what I needed to change!
Lessons & tips: Find a really good Doctor who cares about your health. It's not about being a vegetarian (or it might be for you, you won't know until you've talked with a doctor who cares!)
Resources: Books! I'm constantly reading books about health, cooking, gardening, and wellness. I love the public library!
