How to establish MY BUSINESS by end of 2008
How I did it: visited Small Business SCORE workshop. read a bit. still not sure i'm "according to hoyle," but what i'm doing is working enough for me to take this off of my list of things to do...
Lessons & tips: believe you can do it is biggest tip. shake thinking that you have to have a "9 to 5." ignore folks who try to keep you locked into daily grind. i was "fired" essentially, but did not let that slow my roll. fortunately, i had some savings, but i have been able to earn. i am building on that by believing in myself and using this as an opportunity to figure out my next act. just DON'T FALL FOR THE "FEAR" OF OTHERS THAT YOU HAVE TO "DO" YOUR LIFE THE REGULAR WAY. i beg of you, have courage! if need be, don't discuss your situation with negativos! even family and "well-meaning" friends can give you bad juju. if you don't get positive feedback and support for your ideas, don't talk to them!
know your business / your field. in my case, can offer "consulting" and educational services, but your idea might not permit that. be sure to do the research appropriate for your area.
Resources: any of the books you can find, but use your local library - don't buy - put that money toward you and your bizness! any resource that helps you define, refine and project your unique talents and abilities is the one you want. there are so many out there, i can't even begin to recommend, but find books (maybe websites, but they tend to be a bit "thin" or ask for $) look for ones that keep the message simple and that speak to you.
if you are online, look for daily affirmation subscriptions. they will help to keep you positive. journaling also helped me. keep track of your idea and "to do" lists. i could lie and tell you to work through them systematically, but that's not how i did it. that might work for some people. whatever - just be true to yourself and figure out what works for you. then be true to yourself and DO IT!
