How to visit paris

Comments:

Batman Has gone away as Halloween is over.

I was surprised at the amount of graffiti and rubbish too

Yeah! There were random babies in the womb spray painted on the ground all over the place? Paris kind of just sucks.

Seems this is what surprises most people who come over here, not sure why everyone expects Paris to be a clean city, population after all is over 2 million, add the tourists to that and it’s hard to keep things picture perfect. I get your disappointment though since I felt the exact same way when I visited London for example, too agoraphobia-inducing, lots of people trying to rip you off too…

I think any big city like that takes either a longer stay or thourough planning in order to be enjoyable, the most beautiful places in Paris aren’t necessarily the famous landmarks where you have the expensive cafes and souvenir trader gatherings, you have to roam around a bit.

And now that I’m done throwing in my two cents, I’ll admit the place mostly sucks ;)

Batman Has gone away as Halloween is over.

I blame the movies!

That’s exactly what I had in mind ! I believe the guy who made Amélie had all the rubbish and all the greys taken care of by computer.

The nicer areas IMHO are the more ancient ones, as well as the parks, the museums, churches, public buildings etc, that and the occasional building in unexpected neighbourhoods. I find the whole Hausmannian, Napoleon-era stuff quite pompous and overrated, but that’s just me.

Mallory Bush has gotten 3 cheers on this entry.
