How I did it: Went to the Home Improvement show at the Tacoma Dome and talked to several water "experts". Instead of a mere shower filter we had a whole-house filter and softening system installed. It was pricey, about $3500. but, it is pleasant to shower and wash clothes without the chlorine and minerals that were in our water. If we sell this house the water treatment system will be included and therefore an asset.
