How to face my fears and let them go.
How I did it: When I recognized that there was a situation involving something that made me uncomfortable, I deliberately took a few deep breathes, thought about the best way to handle the situation, and went ahead and did what needed to be done. It took some time before I could really stop the urge to procrastinate and put off doing whatever it was that made me uncomfortable, but I do much better these days. Some situations still make me want to avoid specific things (i.e., talking in public), but I have really found that it is much better to face what needs to be dealt with than to put it off.
Lessons & tips: Remember, the reality is very likely to be much less stressful if you face it head-on, rather than procrastinating. Also, putting things off rather than dealing with them when they come up tends to create more stress. Asking for help can also be a big help - there is nothing wrong with saying that you need help with a situation or that you need advice on what to do.
