"Life changing, inspiring, illuminating."
How I did it: It's a bit hard to write about how this happened. It's been a long, long road, and I guess there was no way to know where it would lead me. It was a process that evolved organically, vs. being something that I could concretely plan for. As such, it turns out that over the past years, my health has improved as a direct result of a yoga and meditation practice and a mostly vegan diet. This by no means indicates that this will work for you, simply because it worked for me. But if you're interested, I encourage you to embark on a similar path. You will not only feel better, you'll discover so many things along the way.
Lessons & tips: Pay attention to your body. Learn to listen to what it's telling you. I have developed a very deep awareness of my body and consider myself very much in tune with what is happening inside it. Again, my yoga practice has helped me reach this point, but something else might do it for you. Practice mindfulness and awareness of the body. Observe. See what you notice.
One of the most interesting things, for me, is that immediately after I eat something, I can feel the effects in my body. 20-30 minutes after eating sugar, for example, I can feel it literally buzzing through my veins. It doesn't feel good. It feels like I've been poisoned, in fact. And though we are sensual creatures and I cannot resist the taste of chocolate cake sometimes, it's definitely incentive to not eat chocolate cake every day.
Pay attention to your body; listen to what it tells you; find what works for you.
