How to make my own laundry soap.
How I did it: I researched online, chose the most common features from other people with experience and tried it myself. Just a small amount of shopping and a small learning curve. Now I can do it with no effort at all.
Lessons & tips: The powder version is much simpler as far as supplies and effort required.
Resources: I bought a big waterproof/airtight jar from Target and the supplies (a bar of Ivory soap, a box of Borax, a box of washing soda) at the grocery store. A triple batch costs less than $10.
Harmless Dilettante What I should have said was nothing.
I’m very tempted to try this. Could you tell us what ‘washing soda’ is and about how many loads a triple batch will do?
Sorry, folks, I havn’t been here in a while and hope this answeres the questions above.
Washing Soda is a powered laundry soap additive. In my store it is in the laundry soap aisle, way up on the top shelf above the actual laundry soap. It is about $3 for a box. The baox says,’Washing Soda” on the label. it is not baking soda.
A triple batch lasted me about 6 months – and I have a family of 5 with two being young boys who spend a lot of time rolling in grass and swinging from trees.
