How to distract myself from overthinking
"Overthinking is not the answer to everything"
How I did it: I realized after thinking and thinking about the issues with J. that it didn't really matter. I could have sat there overanalyzing, stressing, and overanalyzing again on things with him, and the outcome wouldn't have been different. He would have still broken my heart, and I would still have said goodbye. Whenever I think about him, our relationship, and being single, I just get up and start doing other things. Whether it be for work or just for fun, I distract myself from thinking way too much about something that I couldn't do anything about.
There are so many things that I am responsible for. The children, my career, non-profit, financials, and the list keeps going. If I keep overanalyzing everything, I'm going to drive myself crazy. I just have to do my best and hope that is good enough. If not, then move on.
I guess things do happen for a reason. The end of my relationship made me realize not to do something that I've been doing since I was a child. Even when I heard from him today, I was sad and cried for awhile. I started overthinking and feeling horrible. I had to tell myself that it's done, so move the f*ck on.
Life is too short to be worried about people who don't care about you and things that are not good for you.
