"A very merry un-birthday to me!"
How I did it: I had been wanting to do an Alice theme party for a long time now. I decided to do it on my birthday. I bought a lot of teacups and teapots as souvenirs at the ¥100 store. I also bought all the prizes from the ¥100 store as well. They had a lot of Alice in Wonderland themed goodies. (pencils, notebooks, calendars, stickers).
I got my costume on cosplayonsale.com. I ordered very early and good thing too because they got my measurements wrong the first try. (like completely wrong).
I got a lot of game ideas from online and invited friends using facebook. I suggested dressing up as a character but they didn't have to. I brought some hats and props in case people didn't have time to make or buy a costume.
I also had a tea bar with about 10 different types of tea, loose leaf and bagged. Coffee and hot chocolate were provided as well.
I made the cake and cupcakes and dinner was a potluck.
I made my own decorations using jumbo cards from the ¥100 store. I punched two holes in each card and strung them together with ribbon and hung them on the wall. I also had cards scattered on top of the tables. (We had three long 6' tables to make one long table and rented 3 teal tablecloths). I also stackedplates and giant cups to make a dessert tower and put a teapot on top with a stuffed "doormouse" sitting inside.
Lessons & tips: Start planning early especially if you want everything to look very nice. I made most of the decorations myself. Everything really came together when we hung paper lanterns over the table!
