How to start a college fund for the kids
"Went to my state's 529 website and selected a college plan for each of my children."
How I did it: I went to the state's website and chose a 529 plan. They offered two different types, so I had to decide which plan was best suited for my family's needs. I then had to choose if I wanted the money to be targeted toward an ivy-league, private, state, or community college education. I chose a private institution, so I would be prepared in case my children want to go to a private school. I don't want them to limit their educational goals. But I feel Ivy league is not necessary for a good education and too over priced.
Lessons & tips: I automatically put $25 into each of their accounts every two weeks. I don't notice the difference in my bank account and it's easy to keep funding their college savings.
