How I did it: I live at home, but I got seeds for the tomatoes from Target, they actually work!  And the cucumber plants I got free when it was late in the year and noone had bought them yet from Home Depot or Lowes.  So this was fairly easy to set up.  I just planted them in the right sunlight and watered the plants daily.

Lessons & tips: While Target tomatoes grew, near the last month they started to taste seedy.  Possibly because of some bugs we had, I thought maybe they were eating the roots causing the bad taste.  And the tomatoes need more than 5 inches of space between them.  

Resources: Hit up the library and look at all the garden books you can find.  Then decide on your area's temperature and climate, then pick the right plants, and make sure you like the taste first!  Good luck!
