How to wwoof
How I did it: I researched farms for months on different search engines. I emailed a couple of places that seemed the best fit. I emailed a few more. I set up a time frame and region I would like to work at. I went to a place where the lady said she wanted to build a school and a community garden. It was a huge flowered lie. I was alone, did nothing, lived in a black mold infested trailer in the middle of nowhere. I called a friend the wwoofed previously and went to the farm she went to. Perfect. People existed, food existed, experiences to enjoy existed. I lived in a small town called Cambria by San Luis Obispo. I lived in a treehouse and worked hard all day. I ate avocados everyday and cracked creamy nuts for snacks. I fell in a creek and baked honey oatmeal date cookies. I laughed and I dug in the earth.
Lessons & tips: Don't be afraid of being back to square one. I quit my job. I gave up my apartment. I was scared. I wasn't making money. When I came back I had to crash at friends until I could get another job and another place. Big deal. It sucked but it was worth it. Ask yourself what's the worse that can happen. Is it square one? then what's to lose? Can you get it back with a little work? Why you live again? Are you sure? Give yourself the chance to learn to be stronger in all areas of life. Trust in yourself and your abilities.
