How to exercise 3 times a week
How I did it: After several attempts, my most successful strategy for exercising 3 times per week was to sign up to run a 10 mile race for charity with a friend. This gave me three impetuses to exercise - a definite training goal I wanted to meet and could see progress towards, helping a good cause, and not wanting to let down the friend I was training with. I selected a training programme I felt I could trust, and after the first couple of weeks, was pleased to see some real improvements in my fitness, which inspired me to continue my training and complete the race.
Having completed the race, I did find that my motivation to train dropped off considerably, so would recommend finding new goals to replace any completed ones. Since then I also started Powerplate, which is a quick and intensive way to exercise, and was a good way of fitting in exercise 3 times per week as part of a busy lifestyle.
